Jimmy Cliff

“I bring peace and love” sang Jimmy Cliff in his opening number. It certainly felt like it in the packed concert hall of the Brighton Dome. People danced in the circle seats to ‘The Harder They Come’ and grown men burst into tears at ‘Many Rivers To Cross’. “I was around to name this music Ska” said Jimmy, launching into ‘King of Kings’, “and I’ll be around in 10,000 years!”. He and his eight-piece band brought such joy, a sense of community, and a love for the music. No doubt people will still be feeling it in 10,000 years’ time.
